The Fairy's Cave
The first tourist cave opened to the public in Switzerland
Perched above Saint-Maurice, the Fairy's Cave (Grotte aux Fées) overlooks the Rhône valley.
It was the first tourist cave opened to the public in Switzerland and for over 150 years, it has offered a marvellous natural spectacle whose principal actors, rocks and water, depend on the imagination of mankind to make this journey into the bowels of the earth an unforgettable experience.
After half a kilometre of an educational trail in a well-lit gallery, the underground visit reaches its climax when its visitors see a little lake, fed by an impressive waterfall.
The Fairy's Cave is closed until the 15th of March 2020.
