"Between earth and sky", by Jean-Pierre Coutaz

On the occasion of the joint vernissage on April 5, Saint-Maurice Abbey presents "Entre terre et ciel" by Jean-Pierre Coutaz, in its arts cloister.

A professor of visual arts and art history for thirty-five years, Jean-Pierre Coutaz regularly exhibits his own work, mainly depicting mountains. He has also created stained glass windows for the Saint-Maurice basilica, the Grimisuat church and the chapel of the Saint-Amé clinic, as well as several pieces of furniture and liturgical items. From 2005 to 2014, he was director of the Château de Saint-Maurice, where he focused his exhibitions on drawing and comics.

A versatile, sensitive and curious artist, he now invites us to travel between earth and sky. We're invited to revisit familiar landscapes, but also to delve into the roots of the earth and discover contemporary pieces closely linked to the abbey treasury.
